Program Evaluation
In a program evaluation, information about program activities, characteristics and outcomes is collected and analysed systematically. The findings help improve program effectiveness, as well as supporting informed decisions about future programming. Evaluations typically answer questions such as:
- To what extent are we achieving our goals and objectives? Why or why not?
- What are we actually doing?
- What are we doing that is working well?
- What needs to be changed?
- How can we operate more efficiently?
- Why is this intervention not working, and how can we turn it around?
We provide an integrated approach that links evaluation to planning and management.
In addition to programs, we evaluate specific projects, clusters of projects, or whole systems. We also conduct evaluability assessments (which determine if a program is ready to be evaluated) and develop evaluation frameworks (which provide a plan for how to evaluate a program).
We place a strong emphasis on taking a practical approach, involving collaboration with clients, so that it is most likely to produce useful information that results in action.
